Northern Lakes College – Sterile Processing Certificate
Are you interested in a challenging career in the health care field? If so, the Sterile Processing Program is for you. Sterile processors work primarily in the area of infection control. As a member of the health care team, you will assist in a variety of health facilities to ensure clean, sterile supplies are available for patient care. Take this program and you will become part of a critical area of health care that contributes to the safety of the health agency and the community.
This program prepares the graduates to work in Central Supply Department in an acute care setting. Students learn medical terminology, communication skills, processing sterile supplies, microbiology and infection control, care of medical equipment and instruments as well as other duties related to the role of the sterile supply processor. This full-time program takes 24 weeks to complete. Students in the part-time option will have one academic year to complete all requirements.
Northern Lakes College's Sterile Processing Certificate program is offered online through eCampusAlberta and involves self-directed study, as well as a face-to-face, preceptor-led two-week practicum. Students may need to travel outside of their home communities to complete their practicums.
