How eCampusAlberta Works
Lead and Partner Model
eCampusAlberta is based on a lead and partner model. The lead institution develops and offers the course or program and provides instruction and materials in an online environment. The partner institution offers support services, such as access to the library, exam supervision as well as research and study skills development.
The advantage of this model is that students can take courses offered by institutions located far from their home but access the services offered by an institution that is close to where they live.
In some cases, when a student registers in a course offered by an institution located near his or her home, no partner is required.
Does eCampusAlberta offer course credits, certificates or degrees?
eCampusAlberta does not offer any courses or degrees. All courses and programs are offered by the member colleges and technical institutes. eCampusAlberta provides potential students with one-stop access to information about online courses and credentials offered by member institutions as well as the learning management systems used by most members for online course delivery. The website enables potential students to search for courses and programs using the online course catalogue and to register in courses offered by the member institutions. eCampusAlberta also provides 24-7 technical support to faulty and students.
