General Studies

If you want to explore several areas of study to learn what interests you, or, if you are interested in taking courses that transfer to a university, then Lethbridge College’s online General Studies diploma program may be just what you are looking for.

The online General Studies diploma program enables students to take liberal arts courses in many areas of study, including psychology, sociology, history and political science. These courses can then be applied towards a Lethbridge College diploma or transferred to a bachelor’s degree program at a university (where applicable).
Students can earn a 60-credit General Studies diploma or can complete the first year of a diploma program in five different majors:

  • Canadian Studies
  • Cultural Studies
  • English
  • Physical Education
  • Psychology and Sociology

The General Studies diploma program is available completely online by taking courses from Lethbridge College and other eCampusAlberta member institutions. Currently, only the first year of the liberal arts major programs are available online. The second years of these programs require the student to attend Lethbridge College courses on campus.

Please contact Marko Hilgersom, Chair, School of Liberal Arts at Lethbridge College at marko.hilgersom@lethbridgecollege.ca for information about the transferability of courses to the Lethbridge College General Studies program.

All General Studies courses offered through eCampusAlberta are transferable to at least one university. Transfer agreements vary. More specific information is available on the following website:  www.acat.gov.ab.ca
